Eight sentences. That’s what it took to let Dot know that a new doctor has ordered Dart back to bed, with the cold “comfort” of the ice bag. No duty for him.
But the eight sentence letter also contained a sublime reminiscence of their last “in person” date, seven months ago tonight.
If Dart is discouraged about how little progress he’s made toward getting healthy, I hope he finds his deepening relationship with Dot a tender balm.
I love these~! I often don’t have the time to read the originals, but so happy to keep up with the lives of young Dot and Dart in 1944, via Susan’s wonderful summaries. I enjoy it even more when I can take the time and read the originals. Life seems so much simpler….yes, they had busy lives and with Dart’s mysterious health issues, (to say nothing of the war!)I am sure it was unsettling. But happiness and burgeoning love, I guess, always makes life seem simpler, and certainly so much rosier.
